May 14, 2009 Dear Rodeo Families: I wanted to thank the Wilcox Rodeo Committee for the great rodeo they put together for us last month. It was good to see Mike Bell again and I appreciate all he did for us including keeping grounds watered down all weekend! Director Lori Todd and Carly Todd held a barrel race and goat tying jackpot Friday night and raised almost $900.00 for the association. A huge thank you to the Todd family for their dedication to this association. With only one more rodeo before finals our rodeo season is quickly coming to a close and the Award’s Committee has worked really hard to put together some great prizes for the finals. I want to personally thank Brian and Julie Keaveney and Marty Latta for all of the time and effort toward their search for the best prices for our awards this year. These two families also volunteered to haul back the 36 year end saddles from Oklahoma to save our association the cost of shipping. This year has been extremely challenging given the nature of our Country’s economic situation and I understand the difficulty you all faced in selling your Rope the Gold Tickets so I want to thank you as well as families who have made donations to the association to help with the cost of the awards.. I salute all of you for your commitment to the kids and the Board of Directors and I felt it was essential to try and continue to recognize the hard work and dedication exhibited by all the contestants and this year will we be awarding prizes through tenth place in the A-Finals and to the top four in the B-Finals. We will be awarding over $59,000 in prizes at the finals and we couldn’t have done it without the support of great families like yours. Please plan on attending a general association meeting held in Prescott on Saturday after the rodeo to discuss the 2008-2009 rodeo season and any issues or concerns you may have as we begin to plan for the 2009-2010 season. Also, those members who are seniors and interested in the scholarships that AJRA offers, please pick up a packet from Secretary Jodi Ivy. Mark your calendars for the association’s 3rd Annual Golf Tournament followed by a jackpot team roping on Thursday before the finals.
